Over 100 MRBA supporters, friends and industry greats attended MRBA’s 40th Anniversary Celebration at the stylish ‘M’ by Montcalm Hotel in London on Wednesday 4th October.

It was wonderful to see one of MRBA’s founding fathers Bryan Bates and to have former MRBA Chairman John Downham say a few words.   Also it was great to meet so many younger researchers who we want to develop a relationship with so we can continue, with their help, into the future. Read more.

There were canapés, some bubbly, lots of wine, speeches – well not too many – a raffle and ’20 Questions about 1977′ to remind us all what life was like 40 years ago – even if some of our guests had barely been out of nappies back then.

 The Raffle

We are grateful for the organisations that donated prizes towards our raffle which included:  Hannelius Recruitment, Penguin Random House, MRS, Mindspark Fieldwork, Network Research, and ‘M’ by Montcalm. All of our guests dug deep into their pockets and raised a whopping £577 during the evening.  Thank you.

The Quiz  ‘What do you know about our founding year?’

Thanks to Claire Harris and her friend Peter Cliffe for devising 20 testing questions about ‘What do you know about our founding year – 1977?  People worked together and there were 10 entries.  The winning team – called ‘MBNA’ – scored an impressive 17/20 and included Margot Grantham, Bob Qureshi, Neil Grantham and Andy Booth.  They were awarded a bottle of champagne.  Well done!

The MRBA is extremely grateful for the support we receive from people like you and your organisations.  Without your financial assistance and goodwill we quite simply couldn’t help the number of people we do.  And as our Chairman Ian Brace mentioned during the evening and at the beginning of this newsletter, we are making plans to broaden the scope of our work further and so we will keep you informed as our new strategy unfolds.

Coincidentally we received an email the afternoon of our party from a researcher who very reluctantly got in touch.  This person is really struggling with ill health and mounting debt at the moment and the email really brought home the importance of what we do and why we do it.

Thanks again to our 16 special Anniversary Sponsors:

Kantar TNS, Criteria Fieldwork, QRi Consulting, RP Translate, Chime Insight & Engagement, Kantar WorldPanel, Research Now, Network Research, GfK, Acumen, i-view London, Hall & Partners, Language Connect, QuenchTec, Ronin and Norstat.

With their financial support and the money you paid in for your tickets, we were able to entertain everyone in style with good food and wine throughout the evening.
